New Milton Women's 1st XI produced an outstanding batting display to secure an emphatic 87-run victory over Odiham & Greywell Women in a high-scoring Hampshire Cricket League Division 1 encounter on Sunday.

Having won the toss and elected to bat, New Milton laid the foundations for victory with a superb opening partnership between Grace Keating and Jess Glover. The pair dominated from the outset, combining for 205 runs before the first wicket fell.

Keating was the standout performer, compiling a magnificent 116 from just 72 balls, striking 21 fours in a breathtaking innings. At the other end, Glover provided excellent support with 76 from 63 deliveries, including 10 boundaries, as the opening pair punished anything loose and kept the scoreboard moving at over five runs an over from the start.

Although Odiham fought back to claim wickets through Kaitlyn Orr (2-35), Charlotte Schooling (1-18), Lucy Noble (1-63) and Georgia Francis (1-24), New Milton maintained their momentum. Valuable contributions from Tilda Mowat (39) and Izzy Newell (39) helped push the visitors beyond the 300-mark, finishing on an imposing 327-5 from their 40 overs.

Odiham's bowlers were not helped by a difficult afternoon in the field, with New Milton receiving 53 extras, including 42 wides.

Facing a daunting target of 328, Odiham responded positively. Gisele Ishimwe set the tone with a brisk 35 from 30 balls, including five fours and a six, before she was caught by Grace Keating off the bowling of Martha Hardy.

The chase was then anchored by Hope Horne, who produced an excellent 64 from 87 deliveries, hitting seven fours. Despite support from Lucy Noble (21), Charlotte Schooling (22 not out) and Kaitlyn Orr (19), the required rate continued to climb as wickets fell at regular intervals.

New Milton's bowling attack shared the workload effectively. Martha Hardy was particularly impressive, taking 2-41 from 8 overs, while Isabella Hill (1-37), Lucia Hill (1-30), Katherine Jose (1-26) and Bethany Cassidy (1-34) all chipped in with key wickets.

Odiham battled throughout their innings and accumulated 240-6 from their 40 overs, aided by 52 extras, but ultimately fell well short of the target.
