A night to remember!!

Well done team what a great performance.

I know everyone was a little confused coming off the pitch looking as if we had lost, however what we hadn’t told the lads is that Brock turned up with atleast 2 if not 3 players that seems like they weren’t eligible to play. I have written to the league today to confirm but their coach agreed it would be a concession if we are correct.

We won the toss and chose to field first.

The first few overs were a little chaotic with us chasing the batters but we settled in and in the second over Elliott trapped their top batter LBW.

Then came some good batting which saw the runs tick over on the scoreboard. The 6th over came and up stepped Ollie. We know he’s been working on his bowling but the first over saw 2 important wickets back to back, unfortunately the hat trick ball was defended well. That said the next over from Ollie saw him take another wicket and end up on his best figures 3 overs 12 runs and 3 wickets, awesome job and we were in the game.

Will B bowled really well after his first over which saw him struggle to find the length against the wind and he took the final wicket to bring Brock’s inning to an end on 103.

We fielded ok, a few things to work on, and Nathaniel did a good job behind the stumps.

Noah although no wickets bowled 4 overs for just 15 runs and Will G 2 overs for just 8.

Jason and Zak were their normal high tempo self in the field with Jason stopping at least 5 singles with quick pick ups.

Up we stepped to bat with Noah and Zak opening. Unfortunately Zak was up against their best bowler who’s second ball fast Yorker saw the bails come off. In came Will G with a point to prove after not facing a ball on Tuesday and boy did he prove to us he can play. A steady partnership with Noah which came to an end again against the best bowler but with 10 runs including a boundary to his name!

Next up stepped Will B which then saw the runs climb and the run rate drop, steadily taking us towards the total.

Noah retired on 30 for the second time this season and Elliott came to the crease. 4 runs followed by a bouncing ball saw the next one stay only at ankle height and clip the inside edge of the bat with the ball hitting the stumps he was gutted but these things happen.

Nathaniel, Jason and Ollie all came and supported Will but the bowling from Brock was very straight and tight.

Will B finally came to an end with an impressive 27 which saw Noah come to back to the middle.

3 overs and only 14 runs needed we were in with a shout however one of their RPC players produced a great top of off stump ball to remove Christopher leaving is just 9 runs short.

A great effort all round against opposition who were to old to be in the league and those were the ones that did the damage to us.

It’s not the way we like to win but a win is a win. That said the way the boys played last night was worth more to me than the win. They batted calmly and did everything that was asked of them by Jamie and myself.

We go again next week and tonight we will be working on the fielding that let a few runs slip by.

As I always say, thank you tote parents for the support, last night it was great to hear the cheering as the runs climbed and this has a big impact on the lads out in the middle.
