We lost the toss and were put into the field.

Noah and Elliott opened up our attack against 2 Bashley players that have been in form. The 5th over from Oliver started with a wide, but some good advice from the captain saw a slower straighter 2nd smashed into middle stump.

Will G started with a couple of no balls but this time some good words from Noah saw 8 of his next 9 balls be very good and limit the scorers.

Zach was up next with an amazing over of straight loopy balls with 3 runs but 2 wickets taken to shouts from him ‘i had my wheatabix this morning!’

Finely took a wicket in his two overs but unfortunately a few too many wides and Micah and Christopher bowled steaderly too.

Back into the attack came Noah, Elliott and Oliver to take the final few wickets (Noah was on a hattrick to finish the game off but unfortunately the batter just about got some timber on it!)

A very good display of fielding almost back to some of our best, the team work showed was amazing and even the 2 drop catches didn’t phase us with support to the two that put them down. Great catches by Micah and Zach and awesome work behind the stumps by Jason limited Bashley to a reachable score.

83 was the target and in we went to bat.

Jason and Finley were up against stiff competition with a left arm opening bowler. They saw out the first couple of balls and then Jason unfortunately chipped one to the fielder.

Noah came to the crease and we started to score. 9 for
Finley which ended up with him like Jason hitting one into the hands of the fielder. Noah then missed one that came back in to hit the stumps.

Out came Elliott and Oliver and more runs started to come, 9 for Elliott and 10 for Oliver against some accurate pace and some turning spin. They both came to an end with balls that were very good.

Zach and Will had a communication issue which ended up with Will being run out with out facing a ball.

The final two batters Micah and Christopher batted for 5 overs which kept the score board ticking over with an additional 14 runs which was looking like enough to get us close but a straight fast ball wrapping Christopher on the pads was the end of our innings almost 5 overs and 24 runs short.

The boys I know were gutted again and we spoke with them at the end to remind them that they can all bat. Every one of them that faced balls played at least one shot that was a good cricket shot and what we have been practicing. Unfortunately we seem to think (even with me and Jamie saying calm down there’s plenty of time) that we have to go out and score at 20+ an over. There is plenty of time in a game and they are all capable of scoring runs if they stay calm and put into practice all the Friday night training.

Thanks to all you parents for the support once again. I know it’s not nice turning up and not winning and we are on a bit of a streak at the moment, that said me and coach Jamie have every faith in them that we can turn it around! ??
