New Milton 3rd XI delivered a clinical all-round display to return to winning ways, comfortably dispatching their opponents after bowling them out for just 95 before making light work of the chase.

Put into the field, New Milton’s bowlers seized control from the outset with a disciplined and energetic performance. Matt Oxford led the charge with an outstanding spell, claiming 4 wickets to dismantle the opposition’s batting line-up and swing momentum firmly in his side’s favour. He found excellent support from rising youngster Luke Ruane, whose tidy spell yielded 2 wickets and further underlined the depth in New Milton’s attack.

Backed by sharp fielding and relentless pressure, the bowling unit ensured the hosts were restricted to a modest total of 95 all out — a score that always looked well within reach on a good surface.

In response, New Milton wasted little time asserting their dominance. The target was reeled in inside just 12 overs in a commanding chase that never allowed the opposition a foothold.

At the heart of the charge was Kristian Locke, who continued his remarkable purple patch with a blistering 51 off just 30 balls. The innings marked his fifth consecutive half-century, highlighting a run of form that is proving pivotal to New Milton’s success.

Locke, alongside opening partner Captain Foster Bailey, ensured there were no late nerves, both finishing unbeaten on 16 as they calmly steered the side home. Peter Wakefield also made a positive impression on his first appearance of the season for the 3rd XI, contributing a composed not-out knock to help close out the victory.
