Winton CC (Dorset) Development XI vs New Milton CC 3rd XI
Hampshire Cricket League, Division 6A – Winton Recreation Ground
Result: New Milton won by 9 wickets
New Milton 3s delivered a dominant all-round performance at Winton Recreation Ground, wrapping up a comprehensive nine-wicket win in just over 11 overs after a clinical display with the ball.
Having won the toss and elected to field, New Milton immediately put Winton under pressure. Matthew Oxford and Isaac Oxford picked up early wickets to leave the hosts struggling to build any momentum, and from there the innings never really got going.
Aarav Jain (18) and Shanmukha Mandivalli (19) offered brief resistance at the top, but scoring proved difficult against a disciplined New Milton attack. The turning point came when Daniel Wooster entered the attack—and from then on, it became a one-sided affair.
Wooster bowled superbly, finishing with outstanding figures of 5 for 14 from his seven overs. Mixing control with accuracy, he ran through the middle and lower order, ensuring Winton had no chance to rebuild. Supported well by the rest of the attack—including two wickets apiece for Matthew and Isaac Oxford—New Milton kept the pressure firmly on.
There was little respite for Winton. A run-out in the middle order didn’t help their cause, and wickets continued to fall at regular intervals. Extras top-scored with 20, which summed up the struggle somewhat, as Winton were bundled out for just 74 in 24 overs.
Chasing just 75, New Milton’s reply was swift and assured.
There was a small early breakthrough for Winton when Kristian Locke was bowled for 6, but that was as good as it got for the home side. From there, Foster Bailey and Noah Gawler made sure there were no further hiccups.
Gawler played the more aggressive role, striking an unbeaten 33 from just 24 balls, including three fours and a six, while Bailey anchored things at the other end with a steady 19 not out. The pair saw New Milton comfortably home at 75 for 1 in just 11.3 overs.
In the end, it was a thoroughly professional performance from New Milton 3s—sharp and disciplined with the ball, highlighted by Wooster’s five-wicket haul, and then calm and efficient with the bat.
A convincing win that underlined their strength across all departments and ensured a successful afternoon on the road.
